I. Create a Finale document for a music insert. (To avoid jagged lines caused by bitmapping, perhaps choose "Draw Only Flat Beams" and "Faster Braces" by choosing Options… from the Special menu. Also consider not including certain dynamic and expression markings since they [and any text] look best when later added to the original music picture in MSWord 5.0.)
II. When the appropriate measures are within the window scroll bars, the cursor crosshairs are distanced from the music, and the present tool is Speedy Note Entry, depress ‚åò-D to redraw the screen. Now depress ‚åò-shift-3. This creates a PICT resource of the presently active window via a universal Macintosh process called Screen Dump.
III. Open PICT Ripper V2. Open the newly-created PICT resource (usually titled "Picture 1"). Use the mouse to drag-enclose the smallest region of the window which encapsulates the needed music.
IV. Choose Copy Selection from the Edit menu.
V. Open the MSWord 5.0 Document. Use the mouse to select the place of insertion; from the Insert menu, choose Picture…. Choose New Picture. From the Edit menu, choose Paste. Again, use the mouse to drag-enclose the smallest region of the window which encapsulates the needed music. (Note again that text looks best when added to the original music picture in this MSWord 5.0 Edit Picture window.)
VI. When printing, choose options which print bitmaps most smoothly.
